HISTORY
The Barrwood is a permanent camping site for Scouts and has been in use since 1922.
The Barrwood was originally owned by Sir Ian Bolton, former County Commissioner of Stirlingshire, but is now administered as a training ground for Scouts by The Barrwood Trust.
The campsite occupies a total of some 93 acres and the wall around the wood marks the boundary.
LOCATION
The camp site lies about 2 miles north of Denny at MR 795870 on O.S. Sheet 57 and can be reached by leaving the A872 Denny – Stirling road and following the minor road signposted Northfield. Pass under the M80, turn right, proceed until faced by a gate at MR 797859, enter field and follow track to gateway signed Barrwood. Cars should be parked in the car park.
PERMISSION TO CAMP OR HOLD AN ACTIVITY
Camping is normally restricted to the period between May and September, inclusive.
Application to camp or hold an activity during this period should be made at least one week in advance on the combined Nights Away Authorisation and camping application form and preferably e-mailed to barrwoodbooking@forthvalleyscouts.org.uk or sent by post to :

From October to April specific permission must be obtained in advance from Rodger McFarlane for any proposed activity.
